Culture Evening

On Tuesday evening, October 21st, Hohai University hosted a Chinese Cultural Evening in celebration of the opening of the 16th IAHR-APD and the 3rd IAHR-ISHS congress. The performances opened to a full house in Hohai Hall. Conference delegates, Hohai University students, faculty, and staff, and other distinguished guests were in attendance. The performances included a rich mix of both traditional and modern Chinese culture taken from the mediums of music, dance, song, and instruments. The set of performances included:

1. Traditional Chinese Dance: "The Yellow River"
2. Female Vocal Solo: "Good Fortune" and "A Wonderful Place"
3. Traditional Chinese Dance: "Swaying Bamboo"
4. Traditional Chinese Instrument (Erhu Ensemble): "Horse-Race" and "A Sweet Night"
5. Traditional Chinese Instrument (Zither Ensemble)
6. Solo Dance: Darobokka
7. Traditional Tibetan Dance: "Mother"
8. Modern Dance Style (Street dance): "Pop In"
9. Traditional Indian Dance: "Indian Girls"
10. Modern Music Style by the band Grace: "No more hesitation" and "Why do you love me?"
11. Traditional African Dance: "Dance of Burundi"
12. Chinese Aerobics demonstration
13. Jazz Dance: "Youth Storm"

The evening was met with great success and even more applause. All audience members alike undoubtedly got a unique taste of traditional and modern Chinese culture from these memorable performances. At the conclusion of the evening, several delegates also joined the performers on stage for a group photo and had the opportunity to meet and converse with these amazing young students of Hohai.
